Dodge Deora Concept Car (or is it a truck?)

Here's another one that should be familiar to those of you who payed with Hot Wheels while growing up in the 1970's as I did.  The Dodge Deora concept vehicle was actually also one of the cars from the original line of Hot Wheels.  It's a futuristic el Camino, if you will.

Cool Retro Mercury Ad

This is a pretty funny concept, having airline pilots test driving the cars for Ford.
"It's got a smooth ride on the tarmac lemme tell ya..."
I'll bet it's more comfortable to drive than a 747 too...

Ugly Car Category: East Germany's entry

This little beauty is called the Trabant, and at one point was East Germanys most popular car. The name, which roughly translates to Satellite, is said to have been inspired by the Soviet Sputnik.  It was constructed of Duroplast which was made of recycled material, cotton waste from Soviet Union and phenol resins from the East German dye industry. The Trabant was the first car to use recycled material in the construction of the car body . Click the links in the paragraph above for more info.

Wait...Another World's Fastest Street Car?!

Here's another claim to the world's fastest street car crown.  This one appears to be even faster than the Vauxhall Victor in the previous posts video.  This is Larry Larson's 66 Chevy Nova.

One thing about these two hot rods is certain:  You don't have to worry about being late for work as long as you wake up at least 5 minutes before starting time.

Must see Video - Fastest Street Legal Car?

You gotta check out this video.  This guy from England is said to have the fastest street legal car.  It's a modified Vauxhall Victor,  which is an English family car manufactured by General Motors UK Limited (which is owned by General Motors as you may have guessed) and is capable of doing 7.8 second quarter miles.  I'd have to say, that if this car is street legal, that they must have fewer restrictions on what types of vehicles can be driven on public streets and highways in England, than we do here in the U.S.  Or maybe not...Check it out for yourself:

The Monkee mobile

In memory of the late great Davey Jones of the Monkees, here is a tribute to the monkees sweet (modified GTO) ride, we all knew as: the Monkee Mobile:

What a wild wacky funmobile they had!...ahhh, good times.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

Sometimes automobile designers hit a home run with a can't miss design that people will love and admire for generations to come.  Other times well, they hit a week grounder back to the mound, resulting in an easy play at first.

Here's a quick look at some good vs. bad designs for a few of the larger American Car Manufacturers over the years.

Click the car names for links to more information on that cars Wikipedia page.

Comparison #1: AMC

When it come to ugly car production, American Motors was as guilty as any of the american Auto Manufacturers if not more.  The Gremlin and the Pacer were certainly two of their uglier ventures.  They did get it right with the Javelin though in my opinion.  I remember watching two of these drag race at the top of my block as a kid, and they were burning some serious rubber.

Good:  AMC Javelin

Not Good:  AMC Gremlin

Comparison #2: Chevrolet

The Chevrolet Chevelle was a big sturdy car that looked great, was available in a variety of engine and styling packages and could really haul ass. The Chevette on the other hand could barely get out of its own way. Not a car I really felt safe driving. Very small and uncomfortable. Oh, and ugly...

Good:  Chevy Chevelle

Comparison #3: Dodge

The Dodge Super Bee is obviously a downright nasty street monster, especially with the 440 six-pack option.  Not a car you would typically expect to see in your church parking lot.  Meanwhile, the Diplomat was at best, unremarkable. It boasted plain jane looks, average performance, and absolutely terrible gas mileage into one nifty, yet not so thrifty package.

Good:  Dodge Superbee

Comparison #4: Ford

My parents had a Mustang convertible, quite similar to the one shown below, although in red. It was a really fun car to ride in as we drove it cross country form PA to the Midwest, and California on more than one occasion. I'm a bit partial to the style below, and also a big fan of the Boss Mustangs. What can you say about the Mustang II. My buddy had one and it was the biggest POS I've ever been in.

Good:  Ford Mustang

Not even close:  Ford Mustang II

Big Daddy Don Garlits

Remember Big Daddy Don Garlits...the Godfather of Drag Racing?
He was the MAN when I was a kid...

First off, you  have to have balls to drive something that even looks like that.

Interesting Cars spotted in Germany

Here are some of the more interesting cars spotted on my last trip to Germany.

A really cool classic Mercedes. Kinda scary looking though...

Oh, one of THOSE cars...Would it survive a head on
collision with a moped?  Not so sure...

Not sure what this is...except cool.
I'm guessing a Chevy... Any help?

 Not a car... A sweet Green Harley...Nice!
